Download DCGI Notice dated 03-06-2022 for all Blood Centres to register on e-RaktKosh, link given below: In an effort to manage the blood stock and blood banking system in the country better, the Central Drug Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has asked all licensed blood centres to register themselves on the e-Rakt Kosh portal within a week's time vid its notice dated 03-06-2022.

According to a directive by the ministry of health and family welfare, all licensed blood centres are required to register on the portal to enter their data regarding blood stock availability and update the same on a daily basis, in addition to the data related to blood donors and monthly reports, among others.

"This will benefit existing blood centres in the long run by increasing the numbers of available voluntary blood donors," said Dr V G Somani, Drugs Controller General (India) in a notice of advisory.

The notice, dated June 3, lists out the steps for registration of blood centres on the portal.

"Accordingly, all licensed blood centres are requested to register themselves on the above platform within next one week from the date of issue of this notice of advisory," it added.

At the end of March, 2022, there were 3840 licensed blood banks (blood centers) in the country.

Government of India, through National Health Mission, supports States/UTs to strengthen their healthcare systems including strengthening existing blood banks /supporting new blood banks and blood storage units, and through Blood Transfusion Services also supports 1,131 blood banks in the Public and Charitable sector in respect of manpower, procurement of blood bags and testing kits, conducting Voluntary Blood Donation (VBD) camps and Information Education Communication (IEC) activities etc.

In addition, Mobile vans for blood collection and blood transportation vans are provided to the States/Union territories.

e-Rakt Kosh is a centralized blood bank management system inaugurated by the then minister of health and family welfare, J P Nadda, on April 7, 2016.

e-Rakt Kosh enforces Drug & Cosmetic Act, National blood policy standards and guidelines ensuring proper collection & donation, effective management and monitoring the quality and quantity of the donated blood.

Considering the national roll out, e-Rakt Kosh has been developed with modular and scalable approach with configurable rule based architecture allowing customization to easily incorporate specific requirements from nationwide stakeholders.

It's objectives include ensuring safe and adequate blood supplies, reduced turnaround time, preventing wastage of blood, restrict professional donors, networking of blood banks, and donor depository

The portal ensures the ease of a web based application, provisions to link Aadhar, enables decision support, enforces guidelines and can give out statutory reports related to the blood centres.

e-Raktkosh has six major components for management of the blood donation life cycle, including the bio metric Donor Management System for identifying, tracking and blocking donors based on donor's health, donation history etc.

It provides features such as blood grouping, TTI screening, antibody screening, component preparation etc. as per the defined processes and rules.

It acts as a centralized Blood Inventory Management System for keeping track of the blood stock across numerous blood banks.

It is also a Bio-Medical Waste Management System for disposal of discarded blood and other waste generated during this process.

It can also help in generation of rare blood group donor registries and the generation of regular repeat donors.
