Download Mashelkar Committee report: The Government of India constituted an Expert Committee under the chairmanship of Dr. R.A. Mashelkar to examine all the aspects regarding the regulatory infrastructure and the extent and problem of spurious / substandard drugs in the country.

The Committee was asked to make recommendations and suggest a roadmap for implementation of the recommended measures so that this problem could be solved in its entirety.

The Committee had an eminent scientist, an eminent lawyer, and former police commissioners as its members.

Officials representing key Ministries / Departments / States / drug manufacturers, trade, consumer and professional associations were also inducted as members.

Drugs Controller General (India) (DCGI) acted as the Member Secretary.

After conducting various meetings the committee submitted its report in the year 2003.
